She didn't want to cry. Monako was afraid, and hurt, but she was trying to be brave. Brave like her uncles, like her father and mother. They never showed their fear, even when they were in trouble, and she was trying so hard to be like them.

But she couldn't keep the tear from rolling down her face as she stumbled along the dark streets of the unfamiliar city, holding her burned arm to her chest and dressed in a torn night gown. She sobbed as she stumbled again, her bare feet catching painfully on the uneven sidewalk.

She stopped to lean against a wall, closing her eyes tightly against the tears.

"Alec... kaa-san..." she sobbed with a hiccup, finally sliding to her knees. She just wanted to go home...

"Hey, you alright?!"

The voice was followed by a blue creature speeding up to her side, looking concerned.

Unfortunately for Sonic the first thing he was going to get in response would be a shrill scream as the girl instinctively threw her arms over her face.

"IEE! YOUKAI! GET AWAY FROM ME!"

"H-hey! I'm not... a whatever that is!" he cried, holding up his hands defensively. "I'm just trying to help, honest!"

Sonic was lucky he could explain so quickly, because he would have been at the receiving end of a bind spell if he hadn't. Mona lowered her hands slowly, looking at him with teary eyes and flushed cheeks.

"Y-... you're not... a demon...?" she asked worriedly, voice full of uncertainty and fear.

"No," he replied. "I'm a hedgehog. Do I look like a demon?"

He looked her over and frowned. "You're hurt, aren't you?"

What appeared to be a bright pink beach ball waddled by slowly and paused, turning to face the crying child.

"Jigglypuff?" It cooed waddling closer, big blue eyes offering concern.

She didn't scream, but a gasp of surprise did escape the young girl. She stared in confusion at the strange pink ball, not sure what it was saying or what it was.

The creature smiled cheerfully and sat on the ground. It took it's little nubby feet into it's hands and began rolling in circles.

"... what... are you..." Mona asked curiously, watching the strange thing as it rolled around.

A came to a stop and bounced once, twice, three times before landing on one foot and tapping it's belly.

"Jigglypuff!"

Alec had seen just a glimpse of his older sister on the Comm Network and thus decided to drag his partner out to find her. Wandering the streets of Neon City after dark, being six, was not the brightest plan, but Alec tended to be a little single minded when it came to things like this. And consequences? What are those? Eventually he spotted and proceeded to run up to her. "MONA MONA MONA! YOU'RE FINALLY HERE!!!"

"Alec?!" Mona cried out, hearing her brother before she ever saw him. She looked around where she was sitting, finally spotting the bouncing boy running in her direction.

"Alec!" she called out again, trying to get to her feet but finding it painful to do so. "Ahn--... owie..."

Sadly for Mona's injuries, Alec launched himself at her in a hug. "Mona I'm so glad you're here! I want you to meet DaiDai, and Alex and everyone else!"

"OWWWW!" Mona couldn't help but scream as she fell back, rolling on her back with her brother on top of her. "Get off GET OFF! That hurts, Alec!"

"Liar! How could it hurt!? I just hugged you cause I haven't seen you in a long time!" Alec retorted, not getting up off his sister.

The really crappy thing about having none of his crew back in this world meant that Marvelous had to go down into cities to get his own supplies. Sure, he could have just sent Machalcon, but his stubby little body couldn't carry much on his own.

Which didn't stop Marvelous from loading up his partner with as much as he could carry.

So, while they made their way down the street, the Falcomon unsteadily wobbling behind the pirate with wingfuls of groceries, they came to an abrupt stop at the sound of the crying.

Machalcon peered out from around the groceries. "Uhh, Marvelous...?"

Marvelous' face just quirked in an uneven expression, before he just held up a hand indicating for the Engine-turned-Digimon to be silent, before he strode forward a couple more steps towards the girl. "Oi, kid. What are you doing there?"

Mona jumped at the sound of a voice above her, looking up at the man fearfully. Her eyes were wide, face wet with tears, hands shaking even as she pressed herself up against the wall harder. He didn't look like any of the men that had gotten in to their home, but that didn't mean he wasn't dangerous.

"I-I-I don't know..." she managed to fumble through a weak answer.

He took a couple more steps towards her, while Machalcon scrambled to his side. The pirate captain took note of the burns, his even gaze wavering in a bit of frustration.

"Just what did that to you?" he asked, bluntly.

"Ah- what Marvelous means," Machalcon said, his beak poking through two of the grocery bags, "is... well, are you all right?"

Marvelous gave the Falcomon a quick glance, but he didn't argue with the statement.

Mona shook her head slowly, trying to move her hand only to be met with pain when she flexed her fingers. She winced, curling her legs up where she sat only to reveal just how torn up her bare feet were. At least he didn't seem dangerous, if not a little rougher than what she was used to.

"Bad men attacked my family..." she admitted, "One of them had fire magic... he hurt me. A-and... I don't know where my family is now..."

Marvelous pursed his lips as he mulled over what she said.

"That's terrible!" Machalcon exclaimed, nearly dropping the groceries. "Was it nearby?! We should-"

Marvelous crossed his arms over his chest, glancing down at the girl. "No. It wasn't."

Though she could just be dazed from pain or the experience, she didn't really... seem like she knew where she was, from what Marvelous could observe.

Hailey had taken advantage of a few things to come on outside and roam around for a little bit. She wanted to see the moon, really. She couldn't get a good view from where her family was in the Hyperion. However, she was a little afraid herself ... seeing as, well, it was dark.

Teddy was with her, in her arms. She wouldn't let him go.

All of her fears went away as she heard the sound of crying, though; she looked around for the source, and eventually, her feet led her to a young girl.

She knelt down beside her.

"Are you lost?"

Mona looked up at the girl, blinking a few times past her tears. She nodded, hugging her knees to her chest.

"Y-yes... I am... I can't find my brother... or my kaa-san and tou-san..."

"Aww ..."

Hailey reached out with one hand and took one of the girl's.

"My Auntie knows like, everyone here. Maybe she knows where to find 'em! But until then, you can stay with my Mama and Daddy and me, okay?"

Yes, Hailey, say this without asking your parents first. That's always a good idea.

Mona sniffled, rubbing at her eyes roughly with her uninjured hand, the fingers on her other hand moving slowly but unable to even flex much without causing her pain.

"Okay..." was all she could say. What else could she do? It wasn't like sitting there was going to get her un-lost.

"Okay! Come on, let's go back!"

Hailey gently tugged at the girl's uninjured hand, trying to help her up so that she could take her back.

"Mama and Daddy are real nice. My Daddy's a CSI! Do you know what a CSI is? I'm gonna be one in the future. I wanna be like my Daddy. Mama's lookin' for another job now since she quit her air pirate job, but for now she's just kinda home a lot."

Ramble more, Hailey, ramble more. This girl doesn't even know your name yet.
